And so we were at the beginning of November, wondering if the season was already over when we walked into Epoqu’Auto in Lyon, France, with our partners from Historic Driver for yet another exhibition. And it was great for different reasons – mainly having to do with the meeting of friends (like Gerard from Autodiva with his stupendous Crossle exhibition or the Jean Pauls from respectively (formerly) Volants & Fourchette and the Creusekistan Classic – and sometimes, partners too, such as the great team from the Classic Racing School who had brought quite some impressive metal with them) with whom we were able to reminisce on yet another fun season and – more generally – catch-up. It was nice also to note that so many exhibitors had made a great effort to put their best foot forward, often with better results than the organizers themselves, though it must be said that their Maserati exhibition was quite comprehensive. We were a little put off by the fact that little things – proper signage and lightning – could have been easily improved but all in all it remains a great show, late in the year and a splendid occasion to go see some unexpected sights – again. And if you live abroad, this could well be combined with a side trip to either the Alps or a week-end in Lyon to stock up on rich foods ahead of the winter – just saying’….
