Yes, talk about turning a corner – the Amelia (as it is now known) has always occupied a special place in the calendar – of course, the Arizona auctions earlier in the year mark a great kick-off to the season, but it is with the Amelia that things really get started in earnest. It’s a global gathering that draws audiences of amateurs from all over and not just collectors but also aficionados who want to enjoy the opportunity to contemplate things from a simple aesthetic viewpoint, or participate in seminars animated by cognoscenti and luminaries. Or meet-up with friends and enjoy an incredible show while sharing a sense of togetherness – make memories. It is, in a single word, a destination.
Hagerty, who acquired the event from Bill Warner – its founder – had their work cut-out for themselves especially as the Amelia that’s always enjoyed a substantial amount of goodwill – the smaller brother, the East Coast brethren… – and it is very clear that – another case of practice makes perfect? – they succeeded with flying colors, aided by a great team on the ground, some spectacular auctions shows and a weather that played nice – a factor that’s never guaranteed there at that time of the year.
Mariano from our Suixtil USA team, had made the trip all the way from the still cold North-East and basked for the whole duration, especially as he was able to rope-in Kobus to lend him a hand to tell the Suixtil stories to the many new friends who came to visit and the more established one who dropped by to hear the latest. We thank them all for their visit and cannot wait for our very own turn to travel over and enjoy the next opportunity to meet you all. Mariano, lucky us, also managed to bring back a full complement of photos that tell the story of a splendid weekend in Florida – at life speed! Enjoy:
a welcoming sight, especially as the 328 has some MM history as well
An extensive selection of you know what…
New digs
Corridors of power
Some much-loved art
Mariano has found a(nother) car he loves
And it looks gorgeous inside & out..
And it looks gorgeous inside & out..
Our friend Aaron made the journey along with his Spider
And here he is, happy to have finally arrived, we bet
The Amelia dazzles – and Mariano’s there to see it all!
