Lovingly handcrafted in Argentina, The American is a tribute to yet another Suixtil hero and certainly one of its most colorful. (Big) Harry Schell demonstrated time and again both his courage (underaged, he got drafted in the resistance during WW2 by lying about his age) and his lust for life, playing pranks on the other pilots that covered the whole spectrum from hysterically funny to simply impossible to recount. An American (hence the nickname that we associated with his helmet) in Paris, Big Harry lived life in full colors and sported the Suixtil colors, as much as a badge of honor of his belonging to a select tribe – the fearless racers – as for their comfort and style. This authentic replica of Big Harry‘s helmet is faithful to all details of both its original presentation and design, as demonstrated by the lovely historic photographs we have gathered.
The helmet shell is built from a base molded from resin and fibers while its inside is lined with natural cork of 3 mm (0.11 in) thickness. All straps are crafted from the finest real cow leather while the padding and covers are stitched from 100% cotton.
This beautiful piece is sure to attract a lot of attention with its gorgeous patina and is crafted to the highest standard. It arrives nicely packed in a linen bag that you can use whenever taking the helmet to a track day or an event. The American is perfectly suited for the affixing of a Guard visor, in case you prefer that to some cool looking goggles.
The American comes in 3 sizes (thanks to an easy to install foam adjustment ring) that accommodates head sizes from 56 to 64 cm (22 to 25.5′) and is delivered by courier within 7 days of its order.
