First of all, we’d want to ask you to spare a thought for Robbert. You know him as our Dutch Ambassador and the talented photographer who, year after year, has been bringing these glorious views back from all those events we dreamt of attending but just couldn’t – or at least not with the access that his press-pass gave him. And also, not either with the talent and the reflexes to be able to seemingly always be in the right place at the right time. Well, there was an exception to that right time/place rule last month, while Robbert had gone to attend the Revival, he suffered an accident and fell, badly, injuring his leg in ways we will not describe for fear of scaring you off. Airport security will never be the same for Robbert who know has more metal in that appendage than Steve Austin himself (funny the things you could get for a mere 6 million back then…). So, if you can spare the time, please drop Robbert (the message button on his Insta page will do nicely) a quick “get well soon” note or something of the kind – you know these recovery periods can be hard on not just the body and every bit helps.
And to give you a sense of the kind of man Robbert is, he still managed to send us a selection of his best shots of said Revival – the first 2 days he attended. We were thrilled to go through them all and put the attached gallery together for you – it is, as you have probably noted from our many years of covering that spectacular event – one of our very favorite shows of the year and this edition was simply no exception.
We uncovered the secret sauce of its success long ago – a second-to-none roster of cars and racers, an illimited attention to the smallest details by the whole team, a setting that lends itself uniquely to racing (short track, plenty of great viewpoints) and all this seasoned with the surprises of the English weather.
This should not stop you to relish the memories if you were lucky enough to be there as well and, otherwise, imagine you can smell the Castrol and reminisce about all the great times and many Suixtil moments that were had – at life speed!
