We have been told that this would be the last edition of Techno Classica in Essen – one of the major European fairs that has been going for eons (or so it seems) now. Of course, it had grown just ever so big. Of course, the facilities where antiquated and felt inadequate. And yet, year after year, the crowds would gather and exhibitors and visitors alike would leave at the end of the week with great memories of good times, spectacular surprises, cool meets and interesting stories. We’re not overly worried that a show of that scale is not just going to disappear – it will survive, endure and thrive, no doubt. It might be a different incarnation or location, but rest assured that such a gathering point of such significance will endure. And while Suixtil has not attended this show for a few years – the economics are just too complicated these days – we’re fortunate that Günter (Biener), our German Ambassador, managed the trip and, as a talented photographer, brough back many a gem from his detailed inspection. No doubt, this will help us all remember Techno (as we colloquially referred to it) in its best light and, forever – at life speed!
